GOODLATTE TO HIT INTERNET ASSOCIATION SMALL BIZ CRAWL

The House Judiciary chairman will spend next Monday in his home district getting tutelage on how emerging tech is getting put to use in less-than-obvious places. The Lynchburg, Va., “small business crawl” is being put together by the Internet Association and is the latest in a string of efforts from tech groups trying to show how their products generate economic success beyond Silicon Valley. And lucky for them — politicians are always eager to learn about what’s boosting their constituents. “The digital frontier begins on Main Street.
The Internet impacts businesses both large and small in both rural and urban communities,” Rep. Bob Goodlatte said in a statement to MT, adding that he’s looking forward to hearing about how businesses in western Virginia are using the Web to grow. Internet Association member companies — including Facebook, Google and Rackspace — will be on hand as well on Monday and will stop at four merchants, including an “urban chicwear” clothing store, a photography studio and a housing provider for people with disabilities.
