Assemblywoman Autumn Burke and the Internet Association Highlight the Internet’s Positive Impact for El Segundo Small Businesses
Callahan: “These businesses in El Segundo demonstrate the powerful role the Internet plays in driving economic growth around the country.”
Washington, D.C. – Today, Assemblywoman Autumn Burke (D-Inglewood) and the Internet Association led a small business crawl in El Segundo, California. The crawl featured three local businesses using the Internet to expand their operations, reach more customers, increase job opportunities, and boost the local economy.
“As a former business owner and entrepreneur, I am proud to see El Segundo’s small businesses continuing to embrace California’s rich tradition of Internet-enabled creativity and innovation,” said Autumn Burke. “The Internet has had a transformative impact on our local economy, allowing members of this community to connect with millions of customers across the globe, produce more jobs for working Californians, and become competitors in the global marketplace.”
The tour will highlight a wide cross-section of businesses in El Segundo, including:
Electric Bikes LA is a first-of-its kind bicycle shop that sells and repairs electric and folding bikes. The company uses its websites to showcase the shop’s newest products globally-inspired and allow customers purchase items.
LIP-INK, a technology and cosmetics company featuring products made with natural, organic, and vegan botanical ingredients, exclusively sells its wide array of cosmetic products online. The company also manufactures and ships products from its only headquarters located in El Segundo.
Tree Musketeers is a non-profit youth organization that “works to empower young people to be environmental leaders.” The organization uses its website and social media channels to effectively engage and foster youth leaders in the community. In addition, the organization receives donations through its website.
“These businesses in El Segundo demonstrate the powerful role the Internet plays in driving economic growth around the country,” said Robert Callahan, California Executive Director of the Internet Association. “In today’s hyper-connected and fast-paced economy, the Internet provides businesses with unprecedented access to markets around the world.”
The Internet Association, which serves as the unified voice of the Internet economy, has previously hosted small business crawls in Fresno, Fremont, and around the United States.
