Statement On Election Of Rep. Walden As Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman

Washington, DC – Internet Association President and CEO Michael Beckerman released the following statement on Rep. Greg Walden’s (R-OR-2) election as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee:

“The internet industry congratulates Rep. Walden on his election as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Rep. Walden over the years and I have seen firsthand his commitment to a thriving internet sector for the betterment of our economy. We look forward to working with Rep. Walden as Chairman. The E&C Committee is vital to promoting policies that will allow the internet to continue to grow and create jobs in the U.S.

“We thank Chairman Upton for his tireless work on so many issues important to every industry under the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Passage of 21st Century Cures this week is a testament to his ability to work across party lines and get things done. He’s a true model of what a Chairman can and should be, never seeking credit for himself and always doing what’s best for his constituents and this country. I am confident Chairman Walden will continue in this tradition.”
