Statement On House Passage Of The Email Privacy Act

Washington, DC – Internet Association President and CEO Michael Beckerman issued the following statement on the passage of the Email Privacy Act in the U.S. House Of Representatives:

“The internet industry commends Congress for quickly passing the Email Privacy Act early in the legislative session. We thank Rep. Kevin Yoder and Rep. Jared Polis for their efforts to secure its passage in the House, and urge the Senate to pass this bill as soon as possible. The Email Privacy Act extends important privacy safeguards to electronically stored content online. American internet users deserve the same privacy protections for their inboxes that are in place for their mailboxes.”
