Internet And Video Game Industry Associations Respond To Today’s Net Neutrality Ruling
“IA and our member companies will continue to fight for nationwide, strong, enforceable net neutrality protections that ban blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization through Congress and at the FCC.”
IA President & CEO Michael Beckerman
Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) reiterated their support for strong, enforceable net neutrality rules today, following the ruling in Mozilla v FCC by a three judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Both IA and ESA are intervenors in the case, calling on the court to uphold strong, enforceable net neutrality rules.
IA President & CEO Michael Beckerman: “The internet industry shares the view of an overwhelming majority of Americans that net neutrality protections are critical to the future of a free and open internet. IA and our member companies will continue to fight for nationwide, strong, enforceable net neutrality protections that ban blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization through Congress and at the FCC. ”
ESA President & CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis: “This ruling fails to ensure a fair and open internet for video game players and all internet users. While ESA is disappointed by the Court’s decision, today’s ruling stops short of endorsing the Commission’s order and opens the door to state action to protect net neutrality. We continue to support uniform and enforceable open internet protections that encourage investment and innovation, including by amending the 1996 Telecom Act to fit the 21st Century.”
IA, ESA, CCIA, and WGA filed an intervenor brief and reply brief during the case.
