BERROYA: “Elizabeth and Alla both bring years of experience on issues ranging from data protection and intermediary liability to cloud computing and government IT modernization.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Internet Association (IA) today announced the expansion of its Legal and Policy team with the addition of two new team members with expertise in data privacy, content moderation, and cloud policy and procurement.
Elizabeth Banker joins IA as Vice President and Associate General Counsel focusing on consumer privacy, intermediary liability, and online security issues. Alla Seiffert also joins the organization as Cloud Policy Director and Counsel focusing on IA’s cloud policy priorities and enterprise policy positions.
“We are excited to have Elizabeth and Alla join our team to expand our policy expertise and improve our ability to advocate on key policy priorities that are top of mind for members,” said Jon Berroya, IA Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Elizabeth and Alla both bring years of experience on issues ranging from data protection and intermediary liability to cloud computing and government IT modernization.”
Banker has over 20 years of experience working on global technology legal issues, recently serving as Senior Director and Associate General Counsel for Global Law Enforcement and Safety at Twitter. Banker began her career with the President’s Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection. She was Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Law Enforcement, Security and Safety at Yahoo! Inc., where she spent more than a decade. Banker also spent five years as a shareholder at ZwillGen, a boutique law firm focused on privacy and security in Washington, DC and worked at WilmerHale in their Cybersecurity and Privacy practice.
Seiffert joins IA from the Government Services Administration’s Technology Transformation Service and 18F, where she directed a cross-functional team of 30 technologists to modernize public sector IT systems through smarter procurement policies and realized cost savings as a result of modern tech. Both Banker and Seiffert will report to IA’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel Jon Berroya.
The expansion of IA’s Legal and Policy team allows the organization to better serve members on key policy priorities and further advocate for a thriving internet ecosystem. Banker and Seiffert’s hires come at a time of rapid growth for IA. The association recently opened its first international office in London and continues to expand its Government Relations and Communications teams.
“Internet Association members develop cutting edge technologies that shape the way we live, communicate, and do business. Elizabeth and Alla join us at a time when it’s critical that we help policymakers, regulators, and the public better understand the great benefits these innovations have on our society,” said IA President and CEO Michael Beckerman.
