Internet Association Expands Trade And International Policy Expertise With New Hire

Washington, DC – Internet Association today announced that Jordan Haas was hired as Director of Trade and International Policy. Haas recently served at the International Trade Administration where he provided strategic counsel to the Under Secretary for International Trade and the Office of the Secretary of Commerce on agency and department operations, including international trade policy initiatives. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Assistant Administrator for Congressional and Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Small Business Administration.

“Jordan will be an asset to the team and our over 40 members as we continue to engage on digital trade, which is a true bright spot in our economy,” said Michael Beckerman, President and CEO of Internet Association. “America boasts a $160 billion digital trade surplus, and I’m excited that Jordan will be able to promote and advance digital trade as one of our top public policy priorities.”

IA members help manufacturers export $86.5 billion in products and services through online sales each year. American exporters – big and small – from every state and in nearly every sector of the economy rely on internet-enabled tools to reach foreign customers and suppliers.

“We want to ensure that strong digital provisions are included in existing and future trade agreements,” said Melika Carroll, Senior Vice President, Government Affairs. “Jordan has the right experience to advocate for the internet economy in trade agreements like NAFTA. Strong digital provisions in our trade agreements will enable American businesses across every sector of the economy grow.”

Haas previously worked on Capitol Hill as Legislative Director for Congressman Henry R. Cuellar (D-TX), on the Democratic Technology and Communications Committee in the U.S. Senate, and for half a decade as Professional Staff on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business.
