Internet Association Hires Director Of Diversity And Inclusion Policy And Counsel
Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) today announced that Sean Perryman joined the organization as Director of Diversity and Inclusion Policy and Counsel. Perryman previously served on the Democratic Staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as counsel and IT/cybersecurity subcommittee liaison, where he developed technology policy positions in the areas of privacy, civil rights, and cybersecurity.
“Internet Association and our members are committed to improving diversity in the internet industry,” said Michael Beckerman, President and CEO of Internet Association. “Sean will spearhead efforts to improve awareness and understanding of current industry practices and work with IA members to further promote diversity and inclusivity in everything we do.”
Perryman will lead and coordinate IA’s advocacy efforts around diversity, inclusion, and workforce-related policies at the local, state, and federal level. He will collaborate with IA policy teams and member companies to ensure that tech policy initiatives take into account diversity and inclusivity, as well as collaborate with IA’s economics team to produce accurate and relevant data on industry-wide employment.
“It’s critical that our industry better engages on issues of diversity, technology, and workforce policy at every level of government,” said Melika Carroll, Senior Vice President of Global Government Affairs at Internet Association. “Sean’s expertise will benefit IA and our members as we work to improve diversity and inclusion efforts industrywide.”
Perryman previously worked as a litigation associate at Jackson Walker, LLP and currently serves as Education Chair for the Fairfax County NAACP. He holds a B.A. from Baruch College, where he graduated Cum Laude and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School.
