Internet Association Hires New Legal & Policy Counsel
Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) announced today that Alexandra McLeod joined the organization as Legal & Policy Counsel where she will focus on issues of data privacy and content moderation.
“We are pleased to have Alex join our team and bolster IA’s ability to advocate on top policy priorities for our member companies,” said Elizabeth Banker, IA’s Deputy General Counsel. “Alex’s policy expertise will be a key asset to the internet sector, which represents more than 10 percent of GDP and millions of U.S jobs. Her knowledge of privacy and content moderation policy and extensive experience advocating for policies at the state and federal level will be a valuable addition to our efforts.”
The expansion of IA’s Legal and Policy team allows the organization to better serve its more than 40 members and further advocate for a thriving internet ecosystem.
Prior to joining IA, McLeod was Associate Policy Counsel at ACT | The App Association (ACT), where she worked on matters including privacy, connected health, competition, telecommunications, and standard essential patents. McLeod also previously worked as a legal research associate at American Continental Group where she advocated on behalf of telecommunications clients and drafted memoranda concerning 5G, telehealth, and data privacy. She holds a B.A. from Sonoma State University and a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. McLeod is a member of the State Bar of California.
