Internet Association Lists letgo As Newest Member
Washington, DC – Internet Association today welcomed letgo – the largest and fastest growing app to buy and sell locally – as the organization’s newest member. letgo has quickly become one of America’s most popular apps by making it simple for people to sell what they don’t need and find great deals nearby on anything they do.
“letgo has revolutionized local ecommerce and made it easy for Americans to buy and sell secondhand,” said Internet Association President and CEO Michael Beckerman. “We look forward to working with letgo to advance policies that allow online marketplaces to expand and connect users across the country.”
“Technology and new simplicity are fueling a thriving secondhand economy, which is great news for both consumers and the environment,” said letgo cofounder Alec Oxenford. “We want to ensure these trends not only continue, but accelerate.”
Since launching in 2015, letgo’s free app has been downloaded over 75 million times in the U.S. and elsewhere. Users have posted more than 200 million secondhand listings — from cars to video games— and sent each other billions of messages using the app’s chat feature. The marketplace expanded earlier this year with the addition of the housing and other property feature.
