Internet Association Promotes Robert Callahan To Lead State Government Affairs, Expands Other SGA Team Roles

Washington, DC – Today, Internet Association announced the promotion of Robert Callahan to lead the association’s State Government Affairs team. Callahan previously managed IA advocacy efforts in Sacramento and the Western United States as IA’s California’s Executive Director.

“Robert has a proven track record of success advocating on behalf of the internet sector in multiple states, including California,” said IA President and CEO Michael Beckerman. “The internet creates jobs and improves lives in every community, and I know Robert is the right person to work with policymakers in statehouses across the country to foster a thriving internet ecosystem.”

Callahan will oversee Internet Association’s 50-State Government Affairs program as Vice President, State Government Affairs, and will report to Melika Carroll, Senior Vice President, Global Government Affairs.

“Robert will be able to expand on his exemplary work in California with this new role,” said Carroll. “We have a robust state policy program and, with the support of a great team, Robert will continue to cultivate a strong internet business environment across the country.”

New York Executive Director John Olsen and State & Local Government Affairs Senior Manager Lauren Kimzey will be take on expanded roles in order to better serve IA members in state capitals across the country. Olsen now will oversee state government affairs in the Northeast, from Maine to Maryland, and Kimzey will take on additional responsibilities directing IA’s political engagement in California. Olsen, Kimzey, and Rose Feliciano, Manager, State Government Affairs, Northwest Region, will report to Callahan in his new role.
