Matt Gerst Joins Internet Association As Vice President And Associate General Counsel

Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) announced today that Matt Gerst has joined as Vice President, Legal and Policy Affairs and Associate General Counsel. His experience and expertise adds firepower to IA’s team of legal and policy experts. Gerst will report to Jeanine Poltronieri, General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Legal and Policy Affairs. Gerst comes to IA from CTIA, where he was Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.

In welcoming Gerst to IA, K. Dane Snowden, IA’s President and CEO, remarked, “I’ve seen Matt in action over the years and know him to be a master of building consensus across member companies on important policy positions. He knows how to find common ground, even amongst competitors, not to mention effectively champion industry policies before policymakers and key audiences.”

Gerst commented on joining IA, saying, “IA’s member companies are focused on many of the most important policy issues impacting our economy, security, and future. I’m excited to work with IA’s growing team and diverse membership of companies that lead the internet industry. Together, we can promote policies that enhance trust, safety, and security, while preserving the connection, community, and convenience that Americans value.”

Prior to joining IA, Gerst managed a diverse range of communications and technology policy issues at CTIA, including access and affordability, consumer protection, public safety, and network resiliency. He has served on several of the Federal Communications Commission’s advisory committees and working groups, as well as the Universal Service Administrative Company’s Board of Directors. Matt graduated from Ohio University, received his J.D. from New York Law School, and served as an adjunct professor of law in the scholarly writing program at the George Washington University School of Law.
