November Online Jobs Report Shows First Drop In Online Income

Washington, DC – Internet Association today released the November IA Industry Indicators: Jobs (3i Jobs) report, which presents monthly insights on the U.S. job market using data from national and internet-based resources. The report tracks trends in the traditional and freelance job markets and presents unique information on hiring, openings, and online income by combining original IA analysis with data from IA member companies including Thumbtack and Indeed.
“Online job postings continued to rise in November, while online job searches, applications, and hirings fell again this month,” said IA Chief Economist Dr. Christopher Hooton. “For the first time since its inception, we’re now seeing two months of mixed signals from the 3i jobs report.”
Key findings from the report include:
- Online full-time and part- time postings in continued to rise in October 2019. Postings were up 25.7 percent year over year and 19.3 percent month over month.
- Traditional job searches, applications and hirings through the internet once again decreased in October 2019, after seeing a small rise in September 2019. Job searches were down 3.6 percent, applications were down 3.32 percent, and hirings were down 2.78 percent.
- The three top postings for full-time positions online in September were customer service representative, retail sales associate, and administrative assistant. The three top postings for part-time positions online in September were retail sales associate, customer service representative, and merchandiser.
