Statement On DC City Council’s Final 2021 Fiscal Budget Support Act Of 2021
Washington, DC – IA Northeast Regional Director John Olsen released the following statement on the DC City Council’s passage of the the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Support Act of 2020, which did not include a digital adverting tax:
“The internet industry commends the DC Council on its decision to remove the digital advertising tax from the budget. Today’s vote demonstrates new taxes need to be approached with extreme caution in the current economic climate. Tax legislation should not be implemented on a whim, especially when the impact is felt most by the entrepreneurs, startups, and mom-and-pop shops who disproportionately benefit from low-cost digital advertising services.”
