Statement On Maryland House Override Of HB 732 Veto

Washington DC- Today, the Maryland House of Delegates voted to override Governor Hogan’s veto of HB 732.  In response, Internet Association’s Senior Vice President of State Government Affairs Robert Callahan commented:

“Internet Association is disheartened that the House has chosen to override Governor Hogan’s veto of HB 732. This $250 million tax increase will harm Maryland businesses struggling to survive a pandemic and could not come at a worse time. Digital advertising is a critical lifeline for myriad small businesses and nonprofits throughout Maryland who rely on affordable internet services like these to attract and keep new customers. Voting to raise taxes in this manner, during a pandemic, is tone deaf to the legitimate concerns raised by thousands of Marylanders.”
