Statement On Plan To Launch Negotiations Toward A U.S.-UK Bilateral Technology Agreement

Washington, DC – Internet Association President and CEO K. Dane Snowden commented on the announcement by U.S. President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to pursue a bilateral technology agreement to be signed next year as part of the “new Atlantic Charter.”

“The U.S. and the UK both lead the world in digital and a bilateral technology agreement has the potential to benefit both nations. Digital trade represents the future of commerce and addressing digital provisions would bolster our countries’ shared economic goals. We hope any new agreement includes provisions that promote the free flow of data, enable e-commerce, and help small businesses export and reach new markets. We look forward to engaging with both governments to ensure that the future agreement matches the needs of the modern digital economy.”
