Statement On The Announcement Of The Start Of Negotiations Around E-Commerce Rules At The WTO
Washington, DC – Internet Association Director, Trade Policy Jordan Haas issued the following statement today on the announcement of the start of negotiations around e-commerce rules at the World Trade Organization (WTO) by 70+ countries:
“The start of these negotiations is an important step for the global economy. They should result in a high-standard agreement that removes barriers to digital trade, ensures intermediary liability protections, promotes a global innovation oriented copyright regime, and prevents data localization. Digital trade means millions of jobs for Americans, accounting for a $172.6 billion digital trade surplus and representing more than $740 billion in exports.”
