Statement On The Announcement Of The UK’s Negotiating Objectives For A Trade Agreement With The U.S.

Washington, DC – IA Director Jordan Haas released the following statement on the announcement of the United Kingdom’s (UK’s) negotiating objectives for a free trade agreement with the U.S.:

“The U.S. and the UK both lead the world in digital and a free trade agreement with robust digital, intellectual property, and customs provisions would benefit both nations. Digital trade represents the future of commerce and inclusion of these provisions would bolster our countries’ shared economic goals. We hope any new agreement includes provisions that promote the free flow of data, enable e-commerce, and help small businesses export and reach new markets. We look forward to continuing to engage with both governments to ensure the agreement matches the needs of the modern digital economy.”
