Statement On The Introduction Of The SAFE DATA Act

IA’s Senior Vice President, Head of Global Government Affairs, Jerry Golden released the following statement in response to the introduction of the SAFE DATA Act by Sens. Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN):

“The internet industry appreciates Senator Wicker and Senator Blackburn’s thoughtful approach and continued commitment to a federal privacy law through the SAFE DATA Act. A federal privacy law, instead of a patchwork of state laws, will empower Americans by improving their privacy protections and ensuring they have control over how their data is used and shared. IA looks forward to bipartisan discussion on establishing unified standards of data privacy for businesses and consumers.”
