Statement On The Passage Of USMCA In The Senate

Washington, DC – Internet Association Director, Trade Policy Jordan Haas released the following statement on the passage of the United-States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement (USMCA) in the Senate:

“The internet industry commends the Senate for passing this historic agreement with overwhelming bipartisan support. USMCA will benefit consumers and businesses of all sizes that depend on revenue from exports to grow and hire new employees. Digital trade is a great American export, and USMCA’s strong digital provisions will bolster our $178 billion digital trade surplus. Today the Senate voted to support precedent-setting digital trade measures that will foster the free flow of information, intermediary liability protections, and copyright safe harbors. We commend the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee – as well as the rest of the bipartisan Senate leadership – for their hard work and look forward to the president signing this historic deal as soon as possible.”
