Washington, DC – IA’s Senior Vice President, Global Government Affairs Michael Bloom issued the following statement on the introduction of the bicameral Public Health Emergency Privacy Act (PHEPA) by Sens. Blumenthal (D-CT) and Mark Warner (D-VA) and Reps. Anna Eshoo (D-CA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Suzan DelBene (D-WA):

“The internet industry is encouraged to see the renewed interest in federal privacy legislation. We are still reviewing the legislation, but share the goal of using data to combat COVID-19 while ensuring Americans are protected by a uniform, federal privacy law that minimizes privacy risks to individuals. The internet industry looks forward to working with legislators to advance federal privacy legislation to ensure all Americans benefit from a comprehensive law regardless of where they live or work.”
